Grief doesn't

Somatic Grief Healing

A mind-body based approach to navigating

loss and life transitions

What Is Somatic Grief Healing?

Somatic grief healing works with both mind and body to help grief move through you. Unlike traditional grief support that focuses mostly on talking or thinking through emotions, this approach gently addresses the physical as well as emotional aspects of loss, helping you release what’s been held inside and rebuild steadiness through life’s transitions.

Releasing grief in both mind and body, so you can feel steady.

How can somatic grief healing help?

Grief isn’t just something we think about it, it’s something we carry in our bodies. Stress, loss, and emotional pain can create tension, heaviness, restlessness, or fatigue, even when we try to stay “strong” on the outside. Somatic grief healing works with both mind and body to help you gently release what’s been held inside. Through guided practices, reflection, and awareness, it helps you process emotions fully, restore steadiness, and navigate life’s transitions with support and presence.

Example of what a session would look like in practice:

  • Noticing where grief shows up in your body — a tight chest, heavy shoulders, or restlessness

  • Using gentle breathing, grounding, and movement techniques to release tension

  • Bringing awareness to emotional patterns that get stuck and learning ways to move them

  • Processing anticipatory grief, sadness, or emotional overwhelm in a safe, guided space

  • Learning tools to feel steadier and more present in daily life

The Process

When everything feels uncertain, we begin here.

1

Stabilize the nervous system

Before we process grief, we create safety in the body.

Loss dysregulates the nervous system. It can create anxiety, shutdown, anger, numbness, or exhaustion.

Here, we:

  • Regulate breath and body

  • Build grounding tools

  • Reduce survival-mode responses

  • Create internal stability

You cannot heal in chaos.

Stability comes first.

2

Process the Pain

This is where we face what hurts — safely.

Not rushing. Not drowning.

Here we:

  • Name the real loss (identity, security, attachment)

  • Allow emotion without shame

  • Release suppressed grief stored in the body

  • Understand grief beyond death

Divorce is grief. Job loss is grief. Relationship endings are grief. Losing a parent changes your nervous system. Pain processed becomes power.

3

Anchor identity

Loss often attacks identity.

Who am I without this job?
Without this relationship?
Without my dad?

Here, we rebuild self-trust.

Here we:

  • Strengthen internal safety

  • Reclaim personal values

  • Reconnect with inner resilience

  • Shift from collapse to capacity

You are not who you were.
But you are not broken.

You are evolving.

4

Reclaim Strength

This is where resilience becomes embodied.

Here we:

  • Increase emotional capacity

  • Expand tolerance for triggers

  • Build grounded confidence

  • Develop response instead of reaction

Grief no longer controls your nervous system.

You feel steady — even when waves come.

Finally…Spark Forward Movement

It’s not about “moving on, it’s about moving forward with strength. Integrate the loss into your life story and create meaning without bypassing pain. Step into your next chapter, grounded and carrying love without collapsing under it. The spark isn’t forced. It reignites naturally.
